If you’re a company selling products that contain bisphenol A (BPA), you’re probably aware that it was added to the Prop 65 list of chemicals known to cause reproductive toxicity last year. As a result, by May 11, 2016 all products will be required to carry a prominent Prop 65 warning, including those already on the shelves. However, because many cans and bottles of food can have a shelf life of up to 3 years, the OEHHA is worried that inconsistent labeling might confuse purchasers and emergency regulations needed to be imposed to ensure a smooth transition.
