The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has begun the process of evaluating existing chemicals under the Toxic Substances Control Act. The first ten chemicals from a priority list of 90 are under consideration and public testimony has already been submitted to aid the EPA in setting the scope of the investigation into the use and hazard level of this first group. A docket is available which lists the first ten chemicals and provides an EPA contact for each, allowing further information to be submitted before March 1, 2017:

The evaluation process may take up to three years, concurrently, for each chemical.  As a determination is made for the classification of each chemical, it will be replaced on the review list by another chemical.  The number of chemicals under review at one time will increase to twenty by the end of 2019.  Half of the additional chemicals added to the list must come from the first priority list of 90.
