The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) now requires all chemical products and mixtures on the European market to have labels that conform with its Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) regulation. Products formerly sold under older labelling and classification rules must now be either withdrawn from the market or reclassified and relabeled. Labels for chemicals for many countries, including the United States Safety Data Sheet standard, are meant to conform to CLP rules. These labels help ensure protection of human health and the environment, as well as allowing chemical products to be traded widely under the same labels and with minimal regulatory conflict.
